Meet Kirby Kilgrove

Kirby Kilgrove grew up on the Crow Indian Reservation in Montana before attending the University of Kansas. After graduating, she served in the United States Air Force, an experience that shaped her perspective on leadership, responsibility, and the systems that govern human institutions.

She now lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, four daughters, and two dogs. Outside of writing, she enjoys reading widely, tending her garden, and occasionally disappearing into online games.

Kirby writes epic fantasy exploring power, justice, and the forces that shape civilizations. Her work blends mythic themes, complex political systems, and expansive worldbuilding to create stories where choices echo across realms.
